Signature file - Unwanted reformatting when I Reply and Forward

B

Brett Jackson

I have a signature file created using the MS Outlook - Tools - Options ->
'Advanced Edit' feature (which uses MS Word). There are no image files
within this file, just some basic text and a two row table, with a little bit
of color.

If I create a new e-mail, the signature appears correctly. However, when I
'Reply' or 'Forward' an e-mail, I get unexpected results. In summary, for
some 'Reply' or 'Forward' e-mails my signature file is re-formatted. The
basic components are present but the sometimes the text is changed to a
different font, sometimes the font is re-sized and sometimes the 2-row table
is changed. The reformatting changes are different for e-mails received from
different people; there appears to be no consistency in the error.

I noticed that my 'Reply' and 'Forward' e-mail seems to 'adopt' the
formatting of the incoming e-mail I am returning, which has the consequence
of causing the formatting errors in my own signature file. I can't see a
consistent underlying cause and so, I have not been able to determine a
solution.

I do have a workaround. In 'Tools' - 'Options' - 'Preferences' - 'E-mail
Options' - 'On-Replies / & Forwards' -> I have selected the option to 'Attach
Original Message.' This works because my signature file is presented
correctly each time I reply or forward.

However, if 'Include original message text' is selected here, then I get the
unexpected reformatting problems I described.

Please help. Thanks.
