Signature first line formatting changes

I am using O2003 and W2003 as e-mail editor. I have a signature formatted as
Arial 10. When I reply the fist line or somethimes the second line of the
signature changes to Times New Roman 12.
If I chose not to use Word as editor everything is Ok.
What could be wrong?
