Signature Font embedment in a Word Document

I have installed a signature font in my fonts folder and need the following
information:

How do you embed a signature (true type) font in a Word document so that someone
opening the document without my signature font can see and print the document
with my signature appearing in their document?

There is currently no way to embed fonts in a Word document on the Mac. It
is possible in the latest WinWord version, if I remember correctly. Right
now, you have two options: 1) send a copy of your font with the file, and
tell your recipient to install the font before opening the file (and
possibly restart Word) or 2) create a PDF file through OS X's Print menu,
which should preserve your fonts, I think.

Michel:

You are correct, all Windows versions of Word support Font Embedding.
However, it's a feature of the operating system, and Mac OS does not support
font embedding.

That's because most fonts these days do not allow themselves to be embedded,
so Apple has (correctly, in my view) elected not to implement it.

In Windows, you can embed fonts but very often they will not allow
themselves to be used when the document arrives at the destination, so you
just add bulk to the file for nothing...

Oh, and Michel: Congratulations :) Time to put the "flag" up in your
"From" string :)

Cheers

Hello John [Decker],

If you literally mean by "signature font" a font that is only used to
indicate my name in a cursive script, and given that you can't embed the
font, you could simply scan your signature. You can easily insert it as an
AutoCorrect item for example, you would type, say, "zsig" and ZAP! the
graphic gets inserted. Post back if you need more info.
