signature in middle of email

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

Most times when I check the signature box, Entourage sticks my signature right in the middle of my email message. No matter how many times I put the cursor at the end of the message and hit return, or even type a few characters just to be clear that that's where the cursor is, Entourage seems to pick a random spot in the middle of a sentence to stick my signature. How do I stop this? Do I have to copy and paste my signature for every message?
