Signature Placement question...

Allan Marcus

Hello,

I found some information that I don't understand at

http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/sigs.html

When I reply, I want to have my reply, then my signature, then the quoted
text with a simple "On this date this person wrote:" before the quoted text.

I don't understand what it says in the FAQ:

"If you want your cursor to appear on top and your signature below that (but
before the quoted text), select "Use short header-style attribution lines"."

Where is this option? There is a picture of the preferences right above this
statement, but the option it refers to isn't there!

For Mail Attribution I have the second radio button selected and the Place
Insertion Point before text selected. This placed the insertion above the
quoted text, but puts the sig at the bottom. I can use the third radio
button, but then I get the full mail header for the quoted text and I don't
want that.

Please help.

Hi Allan,

Entourage is very confusing in this aspect, so here's the deal:

* if you choose to use the attribution line "On [date], [xy] wrote:",
Entourage will automatically place your signature BELOW the quoted text

* if you choose "Place reply at top of message", you will not get the
attribution line, only a plain old header with sender details, date and
subject line; however, with this option, your signature will be placed
BEFORE the quoted text

Now, if you want to have the attribution line *and* the signature before the
quoted text, you will have to use Paul Berkowitz' free AppleScript "Reply
Insertion Inverse", which you can download here:
