signature with illustration

Hi
I want to add a illustration/logotype to my signature. Does anyone know what
kind of file I can add? I have tried jpg's in RGB and 72 dpi, and also
pdf-format. The problem is that the result varies a lot - some of my
correspondants just see an invalied picture (the little red cross). Does the
origin of the picture matter? If I e.g. use copy from explorer or from a
webpage, and paste it into the signature.
Is there a safe method to add an illustration to signatures in Outlook?

It depends on the method you are using and also which version of Outlook. I
wouldn't recommend to use "Paste" to get in in there. Use the picture option
of the Signature Editor instead or modify the HTML of the signature to point
it to a web location.

I use Microsoft Outlook 2003. To my surprice, if I use the picture option in
the Signature Editor, it doesn't work at all. The picture is shown as a large
grey rectangle.
The only way I can get at visible illustration is to copy it from a folder,
paste it in a new, empty window in my internet browser, copy it from there
and finally paste it in the Signature Editor. But - again a problem - then
the illustration won't be stuck to the signature, but attached to the mail.
That's annoying... Anyone, suggestions?

About modifying the HTML, that's new ground for me, I guess I'm at a loss.

I would think this is a really common wish - most companies have their
logotype together with the contact information in a mail. But I must do
something wrong.

Are you using the built-in editor or are you pressing the Advanced Editor
button?
In case of the last; which application opens then?

When adding a picture to your signature, which isn't located on a web
server, I'd recommend to place the picture in your Signatures folder first.

If you are interested in exploring the HTML, take a look at the "img" tag
and its value for "scr=".
