Signatures appear as attachments in incoming email

In some incoming emails, the sender's signature appears as an attachment,
often accompanied by 3 or 4 other small text or htm files.

I have set Outlook 2003 to compose email in HTML; I have unchecked 'read all
standard mail in plain text'

How can I get the sender's signature to display properly in the email?

you are the recipient? if so, the problem may not be with your outlook and
your new mail format configuration won't affect it.

what email client do they use?
