Simple Countif problem

I have a list of values A4:A24. In cell A25 I have used
the average function. I would like to count the number of
occurences in my list of values that are 'greater than'
the average value, using the cell reference rather than
typing manually. Cannot get my formula to work on this
basis although I can get it to find an exact match. I
must be missing something obvious - please help.
