simple frontpage question

Dear clever folks;

I am writing text in a table. I write some words and then I want to go to
the next line and write there. But when I press return, the cursor jumps 2
lines, so that there is one empty line between what I wrote and the new
line.

Like this

here is the first line (- return-)

here is the next line---

I resolved it by hitting the space bar many times after the last word of the
first line in order to force the cursor to the next line, but I can't
believe it is the right way around it.

Can anybody help ?

I just tried the same thing, and got the same result.
I went to Format>Paragraph, and set the Line Spacing to Single, same thing.
Then I went to Spacing and set Before and after to "0"...That seemed to do
the trick.
Double spacing must me some default of sorts, because after I typed ) for
before and after, it said 100% in the Spacing window; an option that wasn't
there before.
Quirky little bugger....

Very simple, actually. Just hit the shift key before hitting "Enter" and
the cursor will only move down one line instead of two.

You're welcome...
