Simple MS WORD search

S

Sally

Hi. I hope this is the best place to ask this question.
I'm using MS OFFICE XP. In MS WORD I want to search for
Bible verse references which vary as follows: 12:3, 22:23,
1:33, and so on. As you can see, some verses have one
digit before the colon, while others have two digits (in
Psalms, and only Psalms, there are even three digits on
each side of the colon: say 123:102, though I can't
remember the exact verse). This is the case for
references after the colon: that is, sometimes one digit,
at other times two digits. The verse references are in
New Times Roman font, 10 points, and the other words in
the document are in different fonts and points. I want
WORD to find the references as a whole because I have to
then copy the entire verse and paste it somewhere else.
How can this be done? I would deeply appreciate your help.

G'day "Sally" <[email protected]>,

Need a touch more info here. So, we take the reference itself - JUST
THE NUMBERS ONLY OK?

A find with wildcards scores that everytime

[0-9]{1,3}:[0-9]{1,3}

Now, Find code. There's stuff like the Fractionator as well as a
simple Find skeleton over at www.editorium.com in the back issues, its
worth signing up for the free newsletter Jack punches out with
alarming frequency :)

There's also the http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/index.htm site, not only
for the FAQs, but for the links to sites with free ready-rolled
solutions.

Is each verse in a separate paragraph? Or, how can the end of the verse be
identified?
