Simplify the Page Setup in 2007

I have been using Publisher for about 9 or 10 years and generally love
it---however, I find 2007 setup to be very UNuser friendly. It used to be
so very easy to change what I wanted to do---go from full page to post
card--from landscape to protrait, etc. The new system is so cumbersome I get
frustrated every time I have to use it!!! A simple thing like switching from
portrait to landscape sometimes takes several minutes when it used to take 2
seconds....This doesn't make sense to me. I teach Publisher and it is very
easy for me to explain how to do a page set up in the older versions....and
it's very confusing to my students in the new version. If you must keep the
more complicated system, could you at least give us an option of using the
old???

I know you are not really asking a question but
maybe the following article will be useful:

Thanks, John! Now switching orientation isnt as bad---but is there a simple
way to set up post cards, business cards, etc....without wading through all
the different brands?? It used to be so VERY Simple---I stll dont understand
why they had to make it so complicated.....

I have discovered the easiest way to setup postcards, business cards, etc. is to
use the Avery templates. They usually work. I also think checking the "Show
Publication Types when starting Publisher" in Tools is helpful to new users.
Actually it is the only why one can access user created templates from the
Publisher program without having to browse to a hidden file.

You're welcome...

Thanks for the update.

As Mary suggests...setting your program to
"Show Publication Types When Starting Publisher"
is quite useful. This option is found at Tools /
Options / General tab.

And if the program is already open...go to...Format /
Format Publication / Change Template button.

btw...you can still have your old Publisher on the same machine, just
install it to different directory.

Hey John, Maybe I have something missing... Homemade templates do not appear
when Publisher is open and I invoke change template. Do you have that option?
Maybe my version is bad. I know I don't have the Business Information task bar
by default.

Hi Mary,

I only see the 'My Templates' option on start up.
