Simultaneous access by multiple users to a file

Several users need to access a WORD,EXCEL etc file simultaneously. Currently
can only open and access the file one at a time. Without using shared
workspace can a document be accessed, modified and updated with access as
required?
Briefcase was perfect in previous Windows '98. Now not available in XP Home
or Corporate license version.

Word documents and Excel files are single-user only. If you need multi-user
access, then a document or spreadsheet is the wrong solution.

The Briefcase didn't provide multi-user access either.

Thanks. I'm fairly sure that the next layer of Management above me is
unaware that Briefcase is still available. "Right click on desktop and create
New Briefcase" went with corporate version of '98.
This really does solve a problem we have when users need to access the same
file at the same time. No user lock out. Just input sdata, save and update.

Hi Chris,

The 'right click on desktop' and select 'New' and the briefcase option still appears as a default as well *unless* one of your
company IT admins has disabled/removed that feature.
