Since installing Snow Leopard I cant (consistently) attach files

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

Ever since installing Snow Leopard my Office for Mac has stopped working well. With Entourage, most (annoyingly not every) times I attempt to attach a file the program crashes. I have the same problem with Word and Powerpoint when attempting to insert a file, e.g. JPEG. I have re-installed Snow Leopard and also Entourage - no avail. Ideas?
