Since latest microsoft Update, Outlook will NOT close!

Outlook will not close. I select "file, quit" and it disappears, but still
shows the icon in the taskbar. It doesn't show up in the task manager. When I
open up the program, it will NOT check the emails like it normally
does....because it's already open! Since I had closed my laptop it kept
trying to check emails, now it will not connect to my servers....i have no
choice but to reboot the computer EVERY time i want to check emails now. What
the hell did this update do?!

If it hasn't exited fully outlook.exe will be shown in Task
Manager>Processes Tab, locate the process and end it.
Frequently caused by an Outlook add-in or third party app accessing the data
file, eg sync software, AV etc
Further details might depend on the version of outlook
