single occurring event gets changed to reoccurring event

I travel and lecture quite a bit and when I make travel and lecture
arrangements I create OL appointemtns and copy my wife on the appointements.
Lately I've noticed that when I update something on one of the single
occurrance travel events when I save it it will automatically appear as a
reoccurring event. I then open the event and click on the remove reoccurring
events and resend it (now it correctly appears as a single occurring evnet).
I've noticed that I can just open and close the event, .e.g no updates and
just this action will automatically change it to a reoccurring event. The
event I'm working with is usually a copy of some previous event I've created.
I right-click on an old event, drag and drop to the new desired date, select
copy, then I open the event and modify as necessary to reflect the new event.
When I drag and drop I also notice that the "label color" has changed from
the original setting to none. I'm using WinXP Pro with all the latest updates
and Office 2003. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Out of curiousity, if you go to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs, is
'Outlookaddinsetup' listed there? If it is, uninstall it and try to make a
change and see if it stops happening.

No it is NOT listed. Thanks for the feedback, any other suggestions?

That's actually surprising. It's a known issue with the Outlookaddinsetup.
Is this a Dell laptop? What version of Outlook is this?

I'm running on an IBM T43p, WinXP Pro, Office 2003. A couple of months ago I
rebuilt the HD using the IBM restore function and then installed all my
applications. Everything has the latest updates.
