Single Record Add or Edit - with no further additions

Hi,

I have a form with another subform (seperate tabs) that I need to control
the addition of data too.

In the subform I only want the user to create a single record, if it does
not already exist, or edit the record. If the record exists setting allowed
additions to NO prevents any further additions, however if this is set, and
the record does not exist, I cannot add a new record.

At the moment allowing the additions the user can page down and edit data
for a new record - whilst I have set up the primary key to prevent this it is
a pain as the user then gets an error message.

I have thought of one option e.g. perhaps to execute an update / append
query to check if the record exist - when the tab is selected, if not then
create a default entry and then set allowed additions to NO, however I would
appreciate some guidance from a seasoned Access user / developer as I have
only just started to use the application.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Regards,
Kirk
