Single Spacing Documents in Word 2007?

I have a problem that my new documents are double spaced. I've gone
through the Normal template and changed it to single space, but it
still double space every document. How do I correct this?

In Word 2007, the simplest way to change from the default 1.15 li (not double
spacing) spacing of the Normal style (and by inheritance nearly all other
paragraph styles and linked styles) to single spacing is to do the following:
On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click the Styles Dialog Box Launcher
(arrow)
Click the Manage Styles button (3rd from left) at the bottom of the Styles
task pane
Click the Set Defaults tab
Change the line spacing to single (click the arrow and click Single)
Click the New documents based on this template radio button
Click OK
If you have set the option to confirm changes to the Normal template,
confirm that you want to save the change when you exit Word.

New documents you create with the default Normal template attached will be
single spaced. The spacing of existing documents will not be affected.

The settings in the Set Defaults tab determine the settings for the Normal
style (unless overridden in the definition) in the active Quick Style set;
nearly all styles are based on the Normal style and inherit its settings
unless specifically overridden in the style definition. If you apply a
different Quick Style set, your changes will be overridden.

and 2) spacing before and after a paragraph. In Word 2007, the default
line spacing is 1.15 lines, the default spacing before a paragraph is 0
points, and the default spacing after a paragraph is 10 points. You
need to change the document defaults to single line spacing and 0 points
spacing after paragraph. See

Thanks. I didn't notice that the Default... button had been added to both
tabs of the Paragraph dialog box (it was not there in 2003 or in any beta I
used). Makes life simpler!

Hi,
I tried following the instructions in the link you provided, got down
to Spacing/After = 0 - next instruction was to change line spacing to
"Single", but for the life of me, I could not find Line Spacing
Option, what am I missing? Of course, where it instruct to clean
number in AT Box, I did not see that either.

What is this "Styles Dialog Box Launcher (arrow)" - I don't see it
there, so therefore, I do not see a "manage Styles button" - what the
heck am I missing??

The dialog launcher (in any chunk of any tab) is the small arrow in the
bottom right corner. Click on that to open the dialog.

Line spacing is just to the right of paragraph spacing (Spacing before and
Spacing after) in the dialog box; click the arrow and select Single; "At"
will now be blank. Then click Default and Yes.
