Site template doc library permissions

I've created a template that creates several document libraries when a new
project is published to Project Server. I would like to create several user
groups and assign them varying permissions to the document libraries. I've
tried changing some of the permissions of the Readers(Project Server) group
in the template just to try it out, but the permissions are not replicated
when the template is applied to a new project. Is it possible to do this?
If so, would it be done through PWA administration or programmatically?
Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

James:

As far as I know, you can only change these at the site or subsite level,
not at the library level. You might want to clarify this with the WSS
experts on that news group. If you can do this, it's something that you'd
have to do by programming around what Project Server does.

Hi James,

The original permissions that you set when you first created the
template are stripped when you apply a template.

However, you could create a new WSS site (that would be used as your
organization's standard) that includes your document libraries, lists,
etc. and set the WSS permissions.

Once you've defined everything, do a backup of the Org's standard site
and then restore the backup to any newly created project sites. The
structure, content and permissions will be applied.

It's not an automatic solution and it will require good communications
between the WSS Administrator and the Project Manager, but the PMs will
love you for all the work that you will save them.

On a Side Note
Remember that project site users and site groups are either manually
created/configured in WSS or they are synchronized with the PWA.

These Project Server WSS site groups include:
Web Administrators (Microsoft Office Project Server)
Project Managers (Microsoft Office Project Server)
Team members (Microsoft Office Project Server)
Readers (Microsoft Office Project Server)

So setting permissions in advance using any of these Project Server WSS
site groups will not help as they will be over-written when the Project
Manager publishes (or re-publishes) the project plan.

Hope this helps

Good Luck
