Site Usage Report

I get the following error on clicking the link for site usage report-

"A usage report is not available for this site. Usage processing may be
disabled on this server or the usage data for this site has not been
processed yet. "

Do I need to do anything to get this working??

Thanks!

saws,

There are two possibilities that I know of here.

1) Site usage data collection isn't setup at all.
2) There's no usage data to report for the site you're looking at.

I assume it's not the latter - otherwise you wouldn't be asking - right?

This needs to be setup by the administrator of the sharepoint services under the central site administration settings I believe. If you're an admin for WSS go the central administration site and select the virtual server you want if there is more than one.

Under the Component Configuration section near the bottom of the main page select the option to Configure usage analysis processing. Choose the options to enable logging and enable usage analysis processing on that page, select the number of log files to create and a start/stop time for the processing and you should start logging. You'll need to wait for an overnight/scheduled processing run to be able to see any stats.

Yes I had enabled those options on the Central Administration site. I can
even view the log files on the machine on the path specified by me. But when
I click the link through the Project workspace for 'View site usage report',
I get the error I mentioned.."A usage report is not available....". Any clue?

Thanks!

How long ago did you setup the usage processing? What is the processing schedule? You don't have your processing end time before your start time, do you?

It's been quite some quite - almost a week. The schedule is start: 12 am and
end : 11 pm. Anything wrong with this schedule? Actually I need it running
all the time.
Thanks!

saws,

It looks like your start time is after your finish time so it's never going to run. Try setting your schedule to 1AM start and 2AM finish. Remember, this is just the processing time for the logs and the logs are being created all the time. You DON'T want the processing to be running all the time. Hope that helps.

saws,

What that schedule screen doesn't tell you is that it's going to use the same date for the start and end times so when your times overlap midnight like that it gets confused.

Glad I could help.
