I've been using google and yahoo sitemaps for SEO Purposes. I was
using sitemapbuilder.net which worked fine for most of my sites.
However, one of my sites would not create a decent sitemap. Every time
I tried it was adding entries that simply didn't exist.
for example, I have a contact form - contact.htm.
For this one site the sitemap builder would show
towns/city1/contact.htm
towns/city1/seach.htm
etc.
In other words, it is showing paths in the sitemap file that simply
don't exist since contact.htm and search.htm only exist at the root
level.
- The site is built with frontpage 2003 hosted on a linux server
- I have other sites built with fp2003 on that same server that are OK
- The site is about 300 pages long
- I tried another sitemap builder rorweb.com which also shows
nonexistant pages
- I tried deleting the nav from the remote site and re-building it
- I've done the rebuild hyperlinks several times
- I do have a custom 404 which is what the non existant urls resolve
to
- I am using shared borders and the fp nav buttons (as are my other
sites which are OK)
I'd greatly appreciate any ideas as to why a site would be going
whacky when parsed by a sitemap builder and what I might try to fix
it.
thanks
