Sites with .asp

Hi all, newbie here.
I have a customer who has asked if I can update some text and links on their
site. When I ftp to the site and look in the "webroot" directory all I see
are .asp files. I was told that this site was designed with FP but I am not
familiar with ASP in front page so I am not sure how to edit the pages. One
request is simply to update some links but when I try to open the page my
options are save or open when I try to just open it says that I can't. So I
have saved the file to my local system but now when I open the link page and
look at it in split view the links are not displayed. They are just blank
cells.

Are .asp pages linked to other sources that I need to be concerned about or
can I just edit the code?
Do I need to go in and edit the Access Database as well?

Any help is much appreciated. Including offers to sub contract! (if
interested post back and I will leave my contact info)

Thanks!

You can open and edit ASP pages in FrontPage however you have to be careful
because there may be code on the page that you don't want to delete. If
you're seeing blank cells, click in on and switch to Split View and see if
there is ASP code there that's generating the link dynamically (like from a
database). You'll see something like:

<% ..... code ........ %>

If it's coming from a database then all you need to do is update the link in
the database. If you are not comfortable with ASP then you may want to
consider having someone else work on this customer's site as you could break
the code if you don't know where to make changes.

Thanks David. Yes I do see that type of code meaning that it is linked to a
database. So are you saying I could just go in and edit the tables in the
database? Unfortunately, the Access version used is older than mine and it
is asking for me to convert it. Not sure if I want to do that because they
maybe using the database to make their own changes as well and probably have
an older version of Access.
hmmm?

Just don't convert it, make the changes and upload it back to the web site.
Make a backup of it first just in case.

Which version if the Access Database and which version of Access are you running?

The database should be at least Access 2000 format.

Not sure about the current one as this is the first involvement I have had.
I am running Access 2003 and it states that I need to covert.

Sounds like it is an Access 97 DB which should be converted to Access 2000
