Can anyone tell me how to increase the size of the font in Track
Changes balloons (on the side of the document you are editing). At the
moment the size is so small as to be illegible. I have Word for Mac
2004, v11.2

Thanks,

Michael

Hi do the following:
Click the balloon then navigate to menu FORMAT>STYLE there scroll for
balloon text and there you can modify it.
Hope this help.

Format»Styles.. then change the defintion of the style they all use to
have a bigger font.

Try googling the group for balloon style or something similar. There
may be two styles that need changing.
We discussed it a couple of months ago. I got some excellent advice for
Daiya on the same topic.

Hi Michael,

Ah, that's odd. Changing the style should change all the balloons in that
document, but will not affect already created documents. Can you give more
detail about what you actually did? as it sounds like you may not have
modified the Balloon Text style.

(If you wanted to change it in multiple documents, you'll need to repeat the
process in each document. You can get the change to stick for new documents
that you create, but not for documents that other people send you).

If using Comments, there is a specific Comment Text style, but the setting
for the size of Balloon Text overrides the Comment Text setting, so both may
need to be changed.

Quite separately from the style of Balloon Text being being discussed here
is the fact that if you are on a recent model of PowerBook, or a MacBook Pro
(and maybe other Macs I don't know of), the resolution of the screen is much
finer than previously. Even in other models, since Word 2004 introduced
Apple¹s finer ATSUI display some magnification may well be desirable. You
can increase the zoom value via View menu => Zoom.

To make a toolbar button for a specific zoom value that suits your display,
do a "Find" for "zoom" in some notes on the way I use Word for the Mac,
titled "Bend Word to Your Will", which are available as a free download from
the Word MVPs' website
(http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html).

[Note: "Bend Word to your will" is designed to be used electronically and
most subjects are self-contained dictionary-style entries. If you decide to
read more widely than the item I've referred to, it's important to read the
front end of the document -- especially pages 3 and 5 -- so you can select
some Word settings that will allow you to use the document effectively.]
