size of inserted photos

what should be the size in pixels of photos inserted in PPt?
If I inset the photos with out resizing the file size is huge-hundreds of
MBs so I need to reduce.

is it the rez of the graphics card in the computer-if so what do you set if
you dont know what the size is if your sending the presentation to someone
else? is there an average pixel size you can set?

I use Pixresizer to reduce my picts to 800x600 (about 150Ko each)
