Size of PP presentation

Harvey Wigdor

I scanned slides for a powerpoint presentation and it was
the first time I used the scanner. Since I did not know at
the tiem the default size of the scanner created jpegs that
were about 70megs each. The presentation has overm 150
slides hence the total presentation is close to a gig.
Even on a G4 with 1 gigahertz processor it takes 30 min to
open the file. And the presentation takes forever to get
through. I need to reduce the size of the presentation.
Can anyone help?

Hi Harvey,

At this point you have several options.

One of them is to save the presentation as a PowerPoint Package. You'll
need another gig of hard drive space. PowerPoint will export the
presentation so that the pictures are saved as individual files and the
presentation will be linked to the pictures, rather than having the
pictures incorporated within the presentation file.

Another way is to save the presentation as a web page. In the save-as
box you can control the output by clicking the options button.
PowerPoint will create an htm file and folder that contains lots of
files including pictures of the slides (not the pictures themselves).
The pictures of the slides will be quite small compared to what you have
now.

Yet another option is to save the presentation as a series of pictures.
In the Save-As dialog box there is a list of various picture types you
can choose from. If you click the options button in the SaveAs dialog
you can set the parameters for the resolution of the pictures you wish
to create.

Hi Harvey,

I think I made a mistake about the save as package. Pictures don't get
exported - only media files. Save as Web Page will break out the pictures.
