size of Word document

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Sometimes Word document opens full size, sometimes opens half size. I want it to open full size all the time. How to do this. Why does it open half size?

Document windows reopen at the same display dimensions that were in effect
at the time edits of the file were last saved. There is no explicit control
or setting within the program to alter that. In order to accomplish what you
are asking for it would be necessary to have an Apple Script force
adjustment of the window size.

Thanks so much, Bob Jones. I'm not sure I understand. Computer science is difficult for me. I don't remember reducing documents to half size, but maybe so. Thanks for your response. Pax, quince

Well, the fault is not yours :)

For reasons best known to themselves, Microsoft chose to keep the "Zoom
Ratio" in the document when it is saved.

So if the file was recently opened on a small screen, the user may have
scaled it to 50% so they could see a whole page. This is often done as the
last thing when finishing a document, so you can see how the pagination is
working: you need to be able to see two facing pages.

Later, you open it on your larger screen, and a zoom of 50% means the
document is too small to read.

The cure is to adjust it to the size you want, then SAVE the document.

In the next version of Word, you can create a macro to automatically adjust
the size of any document you open. Call back when you get Word 2011, and
we'll give you the macro :)

Cheers
