for 2004 go to View menu> Zoom. at the bottom or window that opens
either enter a value in the box or use the up or down areas. default
zoom level there click okay to dismiss window.
Now type something and save as dummy.xls.
IF you have preferences set right its supposed to ask do you want to
save changes in Normal.
choose yes.
quit Word.
now throw away the dummy.xls file.
Now open excel again.
document should automatically open
The directions are identical for Word as well except file is saved as a
doc.
Is there a way to magnify to 125% lets say the opening worksheet and have it stay that way as a preference? Bad Eyes.
Sorry Phil,I forgot to mention I'm running 2008. And the question is about spreahsheets (you mention word but the also "dummy.xls?)
I tried what I suspect is the same procedure - Changed the magnification to what I wanted in the drop down box. Typed 123 in cell A1, hen saved as "dummy.xls" Did not get any question about save changes in "Normal" So I'm at a loss?
If I am not mistaken since I have O-2008 as well. I believe there
actually is a setting in Preferences to check to get the reminder about
save to default.
