Skills matching - Multiple skills

Adam Hodgson

I have set up the Enterprise Resource Pool and have Skills, Skills2, Skills3
etc to reflect resources having multiple skills.

It works perfectly when I perform the "match" and have only one "Skills"
flagged as "Use this code for matching generic resources"

When I have Skills2 flagged as "Use this code for matching generic
resources", the filter is Skills1 AND Skills2. I would like it to be OR
rather than AND. Is there a simple way of changing that for the enterprise?

This is my second post so I am not sure about etiquette ...
(Should I post this as a separate question?)
My second question is on experience regarding use of Enterprise Calendars.
I am interested in the pitfalls of allowing local calendars. We have shift
calendar requirements, State-based calendar requirements, resource group
calendar requirements and it seems like it would be extremely complicated to
Enterprise calendars for all of these areas...

Any thoughts ...suggested reading would be appreciated.

Adam

If you are using Project Server 2003, you can use one of the enterprise
Resource outline codes 20-29 as a Skills field and then you can select
multiple values in that field for each resource. I believe you will then
see the Match button produces a "Contains" filter automatically.

At the very least, you should create an enterprise calendar when the
majority of your PM's need access to a particular calendar. You should also
create enterprise calendars to be used as Base Calendars for your enterprise
resources. If these two points describe all of your organization's needs
for custom calendars, then you need to create enterprise calendars and
disallow local calendars. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Thank you again. Not only have your responses to my questions been fast and
useful, all of your other posts also helped me greatly.

Yes, we are using Project Server 2003 for those who read this post.

Hello,

Looking for guidance like this for PS 2007. What is the logic used to Match
generic resources to real resources in 2007 when:

1. There is more than one field tagged with "Use this field for matching
generic resources". Is it Ands or Ors?

2. There is one or more fields tagged with "Use this field for matching
generic resources" that each "Allow multiple values to be selected from the
lookup table". What is the logic between fields Ands or Ors and also within
each individual field Ands or Ors.

Regards,
Peter
