Slashed Zero

How do you enter a "slashed zero" using Word 2002 (XP)? I have a zero
in my email address which some people mistake as an "o" causing some
difficulties. Thanks

Typefaces (exceptions being the geek typefaces) generally don't have a
slashed zero.

If you don't want to use a geeky typeface, you can improvise a slashed
zero like in the typewriter days, by overtyping a zero and a slash. The
way to do this is with an equation field:

{\eq \o(0,/)}

Overtyping can also improvise glyphs with diacritics that might be
absent in the font file that you're using.

Insert Symbol will take you to each font's list of characters. Some have
the slash zero, which is used in Swedish, I think. It's a work around if
you don't mind being a bit inelegant.

That's actually a slashed O in Scandinavian languages, not a zero - but
it's an option that I hadn't thought of. The O is wider than the zero
in nearly all typefaces but on something like a business card, there can
be lots of freedom to play with these differences for graphic design.

Hi.

You can insert the Ø symbol in Word and then copy and paste it into your
e-mail. How it transfers when pasted into an Account 'setup', I don't know.

It worked okay when I tried it in the body of an e-mail.

Good luck,

Ed
