Slide Master not 100% applying

I have a PPT 2003 file with a single slide master. We want the master to
apply to all the slides and it has a background design, footer, page # and
date at the bottom. While PPT says that all the slides are using the master,
only one slide shows the date field, 2 slides are missing the footer and all
show the page number. I've tried re-applying the slide master but nothing
changes. Any idea what is going on here? Thank you.

Does your presentation make use of both a

"slide master" and a "title master"

Only slides with the 'layout' of 'title slide' will follow the 'title
master'

There is only one master slide on the left had side, no title master to speak
of. The thing that is weird is that different slides are inheriting different
pieces of the master slide, whether it be everything but the date, everything
or nothing at all.

Try selecting all of the slides, right clicking them and selecting "Re-Apply
Layout. (I think that's what it is called in 2003. Don't have a 2003 machine
booted at the moment. Someone will correct me if it isn't right )

As well as the other suggestions try View > headers and Footers

Tick the relevant boxes > Apply to all.
