Slide Master vs Design Layouts?

AES/newspost

I've gotten totally confused about Slide Masters vs Design Layouts (Mac
PowerPoint 2001).

Objective is to reapply the Slide Master layout to selected individual
slides in a presentation.

Following the Help file instructions as I read 'em, I select the desired
slides, then select the Format >> Apply Design Layout menu command.

Result is to open a Finder Find window with a bunch of designs, none of
which are mine, and no indication of my Slide Master.

What do I need to do?

Thanks.

First, go to Edit -> Preferences, click the "Advanced" tab, and under
"Multiple Masters", make sure the option to "Enable multiple designs per
presentation" is checked. Click OK.

Open the Slide Sorter (View -> Slide Sorter), and select the slides to which
you want to apply the presentation's slide master. Then, go to Format ->
Apply Design Template. Under "Show", choose "All PowerPoint Presentations".
Navigate to the PowerPoint presentation that you currently have open. Click
it once to select it, and then choose "Apply to selected slides". Then,
click "Open", and your presentation should look just like you want it to.
