slide shows displays in black only

I have a problem with displaying a powerpoint slide show. It will only
display in black. I've tried to toggle the black off by hitting the B or
the . but they don't work. I can toggle to white by hitting the W but I can
never toggle out of this "hide" mode. Even if I hope another powerpoint
file, it doesn't matter what slide show I try to open. What is wrong?
