Slide Transitions

I saw a presentation with a series of slide transitions that looked like a
double door opening from the center which caused the existing slide to
disappear to the two vertical sides of the screen and the next slide
appeared to fade from the back as if it was walking through the door.

How is this done? Can it be done with PPT 2003?

Are you sure that it wasn't Keynote that you were seeing? It has
transitions like the above.
