Slides won't import to MS Producer

I've been using MS Producer for nearly 2 years and have many presentations.
Today the PowerPoint slides will not import either when creating a new
presentations or unpacking and loading a Pack and Go file. Reducing the PP
file name to 2 letters and moving it from the folder to the desktop to
shorten the path name does not help.
PowerPoint is working fine and I can create and edit PP with no problems.
I'm using Office 2003 and Windows XP Professional.

PS: Why isn't there a discussion group for MS Producer?

There is a group for Producer, and I think you'll have better luck posting
there.

Unfortunately, that link has become harder to find since Microsoft's latest
homepage update. In fact, I don't think you can get to this page from the MS
homepage anymore. <sigh>

Doubt this is your problem but the desktop is NOT a particularly short path

someting like in my case C:\documents and settings\johnwilson\desktop\filename

Try creating a folder on C with a short name like "me"ie c:\me\fileneme
