Slideshow crashes PowerPoint with Yosemite

Hello,
Hello, I just upgraded to Yosemite and prior to this have been using PowerPoint presentations with no problems on Mavericks.
Now with Yosemite, when I activate slideshow, the screen just goes black for 30 seconds and the resumes PowerPoint with a message "PowerPoint encountered and error and needs to quit"
I have no idea what to do about it.
Would be grateful if anyone can offer some advice.
