Using OL2003 w/Exchange Server 5.5 on NT4SP6a box. With OL2k everything is
fine. I have set up a test pc with OL2003. When sending email I see the
message remain in the Outbox for exactly 1 minute. After 1 minute it pops up
in my Inbox. If I grow impatient and simply click on any other folder the
message is delivered that instant without the full minute wait. This
activity is seen from the pc with OL2003.
Now I setup another pc with the same Mailbox but using OL2000 as the client.
From the pc with OL2003 I send an email to myself and once again the message
stays in the Outbox for 1 full minute and then I see it delivered to the
Inbox. HOWEVER, on the OL2000 pc I see the message delivered to the Inbox
the instant I send the message on the OL2003 pc. In other words...the pc
with OL2000 shows the message in the Inbox while the pc with the OL2003
client is still showing the message in the Outbox. There is a very
noticeable lag in OL2003.
Yes, Send Immediately is checked in Mail Setup. Yes, I tried checking
Tools - Send/Receive - Send/Receive Settings - Disable Scheduled
Send/Receive (Whatever the heck that is for...). Nothing works. Mail stays
in my Outbox for 1 minute precisely. My OL status in lower right corner says
Online and I don't have any Ex Sver messages or warnings or anything like
that. I just went and sent myself a message from the OL2000 pc and the
message showed up in THAT inbox immediately. At the OL2003 pc the message
did not arrive for 1 minute.
So...it appears there is a polling lag of some sort built into OL2003. Does
anyone know how to eliminate this lag? TIA
