Slipstream Office 2007 w SP2 still shows SP2 as needed Windows Upd

Office 2007 is successfully being installed using the slip-streamed method
but I have noticed that some office updates are not successfully installing
due to "expected version not found".

Troubleshooting further I notice that Windows Update still shows SP2 as
needing to be applied. Once applied the have resolved some issues.

I confirm that the Office install is indeed installing with SP2, so what is
the difference?
