I hope someone will be able to answer this one. At the place where I work,
we copied our MS Office 2003 CD to our network, and ran the Custom
Maintenance Wizard to get settings the way we wanted in the program. At that
point, we pushed Office 2003 out to half of our locations. Now the SP1 is
out, I want to be able to integreate (slipstream) SP1 into our existing
install on our network. I tried it, and it seemed to work, but then during
the setup of the client on a PC it gave an error message about not being able
to find a DLL in a certain CAB file. Instructions that I've come across have
said that you must to an admin installation point in order to be able to
slipstream SP1 into it. The instructions say that it can't be done on just a
copy of the CD. I am a Microsoft Volume License customer, and would like to
know if there is someone out there that has instructions on how to slipstream
SP1 into the CD itself that was copied to our network. If you're wondering
why I didn't do an admin installation point in the first place, it's because
I read in the Office 2003 Resource Kit that if you did an admin install, you
would lose the functionality on the client end of the client not being able
to store its own cab files in the MSOCACHE folder. I liked the idea of CABS
being on the local PC in case something happened away from the network to a
user's laptop that would require an office repair.
Thanks,
