Slow desktop load

When I turn on my computer, it takes about 10 minutes for the desktop and
taskbar icons to appear. Me Edition. Any suggestions for speeding up would
be appreciated......

Have deleted all programs/ files that are not necessary. Seemed to help a
bit but still takes about 5 minutes to load when I boot up.
