Slow file browsing in Word & Excel

Any idea why it takes so long to browse to open files in
word or excel. When you go to file > open, the drop down
box takes forever to actually drop down. There are no
other performance issues on the laptop, just seems to be
involving the Office XP suite. I tried installing SP3 for
Office XP think that might help, but that didn't do the
trick . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Joe

Usual reason is there is an invalid/unreachable drive mapped and the
system is waiting for a response from that drive before it displays the
listing. Remove that mapping and the delay will disapear.

Already checked and verified - no invalid drive mappings
are present. The file list actually displays right away,
but is slow when displaying the keystrokes entered by the
user. I have also verified taht no invalid printer
mappings are defined either. Can you think of anything
else?
