slow initial loading of first PWA page

I'm in the process of setting up a project server 2007 enviroment. I'm
making slow but steady progress. One of the things that puzzle me is
this:
When a user access the PWA url the initial page load takes 10-15
seconds. After that the site performs nice and quick. I don't think
it's a load issue since I have 8gb ram and dual Intel Xeon 5120, 1.86
GHz processors and only half a dozen users on the enviroment.

Anybody any tips where I should look?

This is due to wss recompiling the pages - you can perform a forced recompile
by following the scripts here

I do this on my demo systems and it works nicely.
