Slow keyboaard input

Peter Moran

I have word 2004 for mac installed. When I input text vis the keyboard
it often takes up to a second to appear on screen, sometimes longer.
Does anybody have any idea why. Sorry if this has been brought up
before, I have only just joined this group.

Hey Peter,

Can you be more specific about what your doing?
Are you just typing in a blank page, or a very complex document? What View
are you typing in (Page Layout, Normal, Outline etc...)?
Are you typing on the page, in a table, in a comment bubble.. etc?

Thanks

I've had this situation since Word v.X on whichever the current OS X
version was, probably 10.1. I currently use Word 2004 on Tiger and
because the OS upgrade is quite recent I'm not sure if it still
happens, but it certainly did on Word 2004/Panther.

I notice it happening in Page view because that is the view I normally
use. It can happen in normal paragraphs or tables. There is no pattern
and it is only an occasional occurrence. It doesn't matter if there are
other programs running or not and I don't have anything that might be
considered "non-standard" installed.

What I generally found was that a letter (normally just a single one
IIRC) would not show up on screen, but could be encouraged to do so by
moving the mouse. Because of this I've always assumed it could be Mac
OS or Word or the combination of the two, and so just lived with it. It
has, as I mentioned, continued through Word and Mac OS versions and is
the same on my PowerBook as it is the various computers in my office,
so it does not appear to be a problem isolated to an individual set-up.

Hi Nick:

If you are still reading, I think it would be to all of our advantages if
you could give Jeffrey an extremely detailed answer to his question :)

Did you see where he works?

Cheers
