Slow Loading Times - Site isn't Picture Heavy

Hi guys, I have guests to my website complaining about my site loading slow
on their computer. I tried it myself from multiple computers and notice it as
well. The site isn't picture heavy, yet loads slow.. so I'm stumped.

Here's the website.. www.GECentral.com. Can someone give me some ideas?

It's your host and their servers most likely.

you have 500KB+ in images. How do you figure that the site insn't "picture
heavy"?

The page weight is more than 10 times the norm for a home page - 765KB
compared to 50-60KB.
Most of this is taken by the banner at 225KB, but there are other large
(file size each over 50KB) images there as well that should be
optimised.
