Slow mySQL access after printing - spoolsv ?

A

I'm testing a small Excel vba application that reads info from a remote
mySQL database. It takes just a second to read and display the data.
After printing the worksheet, the access time increases to 10-15 seconds.
What I observe is that after printing once, the spoolsv.exe becomes active,
and it seems to start up and use CPU (10-25%) the next time(s) I access the
database.
If I quit Excel, everything is ok until next time I print.
I'm using XP SP2 and a Canon iP2000 with the latest driver.
