Hi

Office and windows XP, patched to the max.
I have a home network over a wireless network.Just on my laptop, when
connected to the network, office slows right down. The machines seems
to be trying to access the netwrok before proceeding. It does not do
this when not on the netwrok. All software has been disabled (AV etc)
This must be to do with the installation of office (only on this
machine, full install, though used another machines hard drive to
install from (my CD rom is failing)Slow whether or not the other
machines are on the netwrok. No trojans found
Any ideas?

It could be the Verisign security certificate issue that people were seeing
earlier this month. Various software was affected...chiefly Office slowing
down. If you have Java, Norton Antivirus, or IIS installed you'll need to
update them to get the new certificate. Norton Antivirus downloads
definitions automatically but not program updates. We had the same symptoms
you describe and we fixed it by updating NAV.

Sorted

Incase anyone else has this problem it seems that it is becuase I do
not have a printer on my laptop, o it keeps looking on the netwrok to
check that there is still one there. The solution, install a bogus
printer on the laptop, set as default. This speeds things up nicely. I
just have to rememeber to change the printer when I want to print.
This is a bind, but it works for now
