We have a small 100BASE-T network with an NT4 SP6a server. Workstations are
1GHz-class Pentiums, all with Office 2000 installed. Most workstations run
W98SE but a couple run WXP Pro.
Some document-storage folders on the server have several hundred to over a
thousand documents. When going into the standard dialog to open a file in
Word 2000, response in these folders is very sluggish on the XP machines,
but basically instantaneous on the W98 boxes. Same application, working
against the same server, but different OSs.
All machines are running Trend Micro OfficeScan anti-virus.
Any ideas appreciated.
