Slow opening open box

Hi, when I want to open a file that is not in the default My Documents
folder, when I select the Look in: drop down menu in the open box it takes a
few seconds before the drop down menu drops down. On other computers I have
used the drop down menu appears instantaneously Is this some setting I need
to change and if so what?

This happens in Excel, Word, and Access

Windows XP Pro and Office XP
