Slow opening Word or Excel files

using Windows Pro XP with Office 2007 ...

When a user is receiving a Word or Excel file, attempting to open the file
from Outlook, it can take up to 3 minutes for the file to open. The user can
save the file and then open Word or Excel and the file opens immediately.
However the three users who are having this problem would prefer to open from
Outlook without the extra steps. One user has said that when he goes to
Explorer to open the file, it is also delayed. But not when he attempts to
open from the program.

Any suggestions?

I have a user with the same issue on windows xp pro/4GB memory. Since he
receives lots of word documents this is a real inefficiency for him. He can
save the file and it opens quickly. Can anyone help with this?
