Slow performance creating PDF from PPT 2007 Notes Page Format

I am tryinjg to create a PDF using Acrobat 8.1.2 and PPT 2007. I want to
create the PDF usng the PPT Notes page format. Performance is so slow. You
can cannot even use the Adobe Combine files function because it crashes.
Adobe has identified this as a bug but has no workarounds. Does anyone have
the same problem and a possible workaround.
