Slow performance using Outlook Connector for Lotus Notes

I have just installed the Outlook connector for lotus notes and it is working
great however performance is VERY slow to the point I am tempted to give up
on Outlook and go back to Notes. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have also noticed that my email attachements are getting corrupted. I am
using Lotus 6.5.1
