Slow response for "File Open"

In all of my Office programs the "File - Open" results in a significant delay
after I select a directory or drive and, before the selection is presented (5
to 10 sec). This continues for sub-directories as well. My computer is
brand new and has a 1.6 GHz Centrio processor with 512 Mb Ram and plenty of
available disk space.

This did not happen with the prior version of office and seems to be a new
issue with 2003 for me.

Disable the Office Plugin that comes with Symantec/Norton AntiVirus. See
